Doodsakker - Tigres

A 4x4 journey through South Western Angola, including the infamous Doodsakker and the haunting Ghost Town at Baia Dos Tigres.

The south west of Angola is barren land. The Namib Desert continues north of the Cunene River. Here lies the infamous “Doodsakker” where many unprepared travelers have lost their vehicles and all their possessions. The Voetspore team was caught by the tide in 2005 when an angry sea washed open a bank of rocks, stopping them in their tracks on the Gansbaai / Gabon expedition. Only their ingenuity saved the day, and they managed to survive, their vehicles and other possessions intact. Others have not been so lucky…

Now we take you back to this very special piece of paradise. With expert guides who will ensure your safety. But we shall show you the Namib in its stark, naked beauty. En route we visit Christo Rei in Lubango, Tunda Valla, Humpata – last stand of the Dorslandtrekkers, the beautiful Leba Pass, the canyons at Flamingo, the Doodsakker and the ghost town on the island of Tigres.
